jazzahead! 2022: Almost back to normal

28 April – 1 May, Bremen

"Together again" was more than the official motto of jazzahead! this year. After a forced break of two years, the world's largest trade fair for jazz took place again live on site in Bremen. The Swiss delegation did not miss the reunion.

Despite corona-related travel restrictions in many overseas regions, a remarkable 2,700 professionals came to Bremen. Apart from the larger exhibition halls with wider aisles for corona prevention, there was little to remind us of the pandemic. It was also a nice coincidence that this year, of all years, an overseas nation, Canada, was invited to present itself as official partner country for the first time.
More than 40 bands and organisations had come from Switzerland and benefited from the infrastructure and services of the SWISS MUSIC joint stand, offered and supported by FONDATION SUISA, Pro Helvetia and SONART- Musikschaffende Schweiz.
In well-attended showcase concerts, 40 live acts presented their skills. Among them was the Swiss band Ikarus led by Zurich drummer Ramón Oliveras, who gave a strong performance.
For those who could not or did not want to travel to Bremen in person, the fair also offered all showcases and the professional programme as an online stream with a discounted registration.
The next jazzahead! will take place from 27-30 April 2023.
