jazzahead! is one of the most important exhibition and meeting points for the international jazz scene. The trade fair takes place annually at the end of April in Bremen (Germany).

jazzahead! has well-established itself as meeting point amongst music professionals from all Europe. It offers agencies, labels, artists, media, producers and concert promoters an occasion to make new contacts.

jazzahead! digital 2021, 29 April – 2 May

This year's jazzahead! edition was held online from 29 April to 2 May. The Swiss scene took part with registration discount, video stand and special networking offer by SWISS MUSIC.

The team from Bremen was presenting the jazzahead! programme with its conferences and showcases as a video stream on the event platform Talque.com, creating a virtual trade fair environment. An interactive data base with chat and video feature made it possible for the 900 participants from all around the globe to mix and mingle during the four trade fair days and beyond.

Around 30 Swiss jazz musicians, club and festival programmers, agencies and journalists had joined in. They all could benefit from a CHF 70 discount on their registrations thanks to the SWISS MUSIC partnership with jazzahead!. The Luzia von Wyl Ensemble and the Swiss-Austrian joint venture The True Harry Nulz presented their musical skills in video showcases. And as an online-special for their delegates, the Swiss and Austrian partners organised the new networking format "coffee break" to support the bilateral exchange.

Will the relationships formed online bear fruit? And will they be smaller or even bigger than before? - The impact of this first digital jazzahead! edition will only unveil itself over the next months. But one thing is for certain: the effort of the Bremen based organisers was much appreciated by the jazz professionals to give them a platform also in times of crisis.

The SWISS MUSIC presence at jazzahead! digital 2021 was a partnership between FONDATION SUISA, Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, SONART – Swiss musicians association, Schweizerische Interpretengenossenschaft SIG and SWISSPERFORM.
